Assessment of seedling traits of rice landraces under different saline conditions

Salinity is one of the major abiotic stresses affecting rice growth and yield worldwide. In rice, most critical stages which affect salinity at a greater level are germination, vegetative reproductive stages.It very important to know genotypic variation among landraces under saline conditions seed germination stage reduce harmful effect salinity. The present study conducted on Petri plate was mainly for assessing relative water content seedling parameters eleven with check landrace Pokali three different salt concentrations (75mM, 125mM 150mM). Two-way ANOVA gave variations genotypes, treatments their interactions. showed that Mundan, Odiyan, Muttadan, Kallimadiyan Vellimuthu had less percentage reduction in stage. Odiyan Mundan fresh weight (36.09%) shoot length (25.61%) respectively, (10.70% 16.07%, respectively) higher (150mM) compared control. Pokali, Chembakam good other genotypes. Biplot analysis 65.4% between treatments, whereas genotypes around 13.3%. Screening tolerance reliable method identify tolerant line early can be used further screening programme identification potential lines improve breeding gene introgression studies.
